    N.C.C.

         The National Cadet Corps (N.C.C) has its genesis in the ‘university corps’, which was created under the Defence Act, 1917 with the object to make up the shortage of the Army. A committee under Pandit H.N.Kunzru was set up in 1946 at the behest of our first prime Minster Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. The NCC came into existence on 16th July, 1948 under the NCC Act XXXVI of 1948 under the Ministry of Defence.

       The Motto of the NCC is ‘Unity and Discipline’. The aims of NCC is to develop character, comradeship, discipline, leadership, secular outlook, spirit of adventure, sportsmanship and ideals of selfless service among youth of the country, to create a human resource of organized trained and motivated youth, to provide leadership in all walks of life and always be available for the service of the nation and also to provide a suitable environment to motivate the youth to take up a career in the Armed Forces.

       The N.C.C unit of our college is tagged with a separate N.C.C. battalion 2/33 ‘B’ Coy of S.J.M.College of Arts, Science & Commerce functioning under Lieutenant Officer Lt.R.K.Kedarnath.
  
    Physical Education, Sports & Yogic Sciences

        Education and Physical Education are two faces of the same coin. Education emphasise more on mental development, where as physical education on mental, moral and social development of an individual. Physical education is an educational process involving the use of general education principles. 

       The department strives to educate competent leaders in the field of physical education, Yoga and sports to serve the Nation and society for better health and active life styles of people through participation in physical activities, sports and yoga.

       Sports committee is constituted every year to conduct sports and cultural activities in a systematic way. Indoor, Outdoor and Gymnasium facility is provided in the college. Students play Indoor games like Badminton, Table Tennis, Chess and Carom. The Outdoor games are Athletics, Kho-Kho, Kabaddi, volley Ball, Hand Ball, Throw Ball, Ball Badminton, Tennikoit, and Soft Ball. The Gymnasium facility includes Treadmill, Magnetic Bike, Arbitrae, Weight lifting, power lifting, Gym Ball.

       The facilities extended to sports persons are T.A. and D.A for participation in sports, to conduct the coaching camp, Track suit and uniforms to sports persons and Reward to outstanding performers (Cash Incentives of Rs.500 to 1000 to university, state and National level)

       Along with the regular sports activities students have been participating in inter collegiate, universities, state level sports under the experienced sports & cultural instructor of the college and bagged so many cups, medals and awards. In addition, our students are encouraged to exhibit their cultural talent at all levels
